Jordi Pitarque died last Sunday after suffering three cardiac arrests, according to Spanish news agency EFE. Earlier that day he played without any problems for his team CD Reus Deportiu in the 2-0 loss at El Prat in the Tercera División. He was on the field for 74 minutes before being sent off with a second yellow card.
Later that afternoon, he suffered his first cardiac arrest. He recovered, but his family decided to call an ambulance to take him to the hospital. During the ride on the ambulance he suffered his second, and in the hospital the third followed.
According to his club, Reus, Pitarque had passed the medical examination in July, just like his team mates. Nothing abnormal was detected. Pitarque also played for CD Tortosa, Gimnàstic and La Pobla de Mafumet.
